Science-Time Teacher Jolene: Let’s Learn About Orcas!
Class experience
US Grade 1 - 4
In this one-time class, learners will join Teacher Jolene for a read-aloud of Orcas by Matt Reher and Drew Falchetta. Teacher Jolene will help lead through this non-fiction book about orcas with discussion, a circle (schema) and tree map (can; have; are), a direct draw, and simple writing. Learners will be asked to share their direct drawing and writing with Teacher Jolene. Class will conclude by singing an orca song and/or chant and enjoying a favorite snack (provided by learner’s family).
Learners will help create a circle and tree map about orcas; construct a direct draw of an orca; complete a simple writing about orcas; participate in discussions; and enjoy a favorite snack while singing a few orca songs!
Teacher Jolene is a certified teacher (26 years) and currently teaches 1st and 2nd grade in Washington State’s Public Schools.
