US Grade 1 - 4
This is the self-paced option for those who cannot make the live class. Learn to talk about your favorite science topics in Spanish using literature, songs, and activities! Each 4-week course focuses on one science unit, with an emphasis on vocabulary, scientific concepts, and conversation. After all, we love to talk about our favorite things. Learn how to do it in Spanish! "Insectos" is an introductory course to insects. The student will learn about the scientific process, what is an insect, the life cycle, and other interesting information - in Spanish. The goal is the ability to participate in a simple conversation about insects. Pre-recorded videos will be uploaded each week, and students are encouraged to take part in the activities via scanned work, audio or video responses. Presentations may be created by providing a recording via audio or video to present projects. No prior Spanish knowledge is required, but the Alphabet & Pronunciation class is suggested to become acquainted with the pronunciation and cadence of the language.
Learning Goals
Students will learn questions and answers to participate in a simple conversation about insects.
Students will present the favorite insect using as much Spanish as possible.

I am a longtime homeschooler (over 16 years and counting!), and an experienced, licensed teacher with endorsements in bilingual education and TESOL. I have also earned a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction in Early Childhood Education (birth through Grade 3).
I have been speaking Spanish for over 25 years, have homeschooled preschool through high school in a bicultural and bilingual home for the past 20 years, and have tutored and taught all ages bilingually in schools and tutoring settings for over 10 years. I have graduated one, and continue to homeschool my other child.
I offer several series of Spanish classes, using familiar translated stories, native Spanish stories, songs, and poems. I teach practical, useable Spanish that can be used right away, and talk about familiar themes interesting to many children.

I believe children learn through different modalities and integrate various learning methods in the live classes and the materials I post to parents. If there is a class or topic you would like to see covered or your child is interested in (in Spanish), contact me! I do my best to offer a personalized experience.
I also post information about bilingual families and learning a second language on my family language learning page, www.facebook.com/AdelanteSpanishforAll, and author titles on family language learning and language supplements.
