Class Experience

Using conversational and academic language, the student will learn to talk about one of their favorite subjects - dinosaurs! The Science Time Spanish series focuses on one science topic, with an emphasis on vocabulary, scientific concepts, and conversation. After all, we love to talk about our favorite things.

Fiction and nonfiction literature, songs, and hands-on activities are used to learn, review, and practice vocabulary and conversation. TPR and other physical representations are used to explain most concepts, without translation. One part of the class is concepts, and the second half is a hands-on activity.

"Dinosaurios" will cover the following topics in the 8-week format:
Week 1: What is a dinosaur?;
Week 2: The work of a paleontologist
Week 3: How big were the dinosaurs?;
Week 4: What did dinosaurs eat?
Week 5: How did dinosaurs move?;
Week 6: Trackways
Week 7: Where did dinosaurs live?;
Week 8: Final project presentations

There will be several opportunities for the students to participate in activities and present projects according to the topic, using as much Spanish as they can.

60/40 Spanish/English is spoken. No prior Spanish knowledge is required, but the Alphabet & Pronunciation class is suggested to become acquainted with the pronunciation and cadence of the language.

I have always enjoyed teaching about dinosaurs for the past few years, and felt it a great topic to start off learning Spanish!
