This class will introduce a science-and-art project that inspire kids to become creative problem solvers. Students will acquire hands-on experience to understand robotic and engineering principles with building moving body parts.
Class Experience
This class includes one fun inter-disciplinary learning activity that integrates inquiry based learning, creative expression, and problem solving processes. Students will learn to build a moving zombie hand on their own. They will learn about the concepts of tension, robotics and anatomy. They will challenge themselves to build the hand using their own hand as base, locate the joints and replicate them accordingly. Materials & Supplies: Cardstock or Construction Paper Pencil Scissors Tape Straws Yarn Notes: Having differently colored straws and yarn will make cross identification easier for students. Paper that is around cereal box thickness is recommended. Office tape will be easier for kids to handle and dispense. Bigger size straws like boba tea straws recommended if kids are younger. Yarn should be suitable to fit through the straw.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will have to use scissors.
