Description

Class Experience

Here's our plan!
Week 1-The diverse organism life cycles (including many different plants and animals) Students will be able to pick their favorite species for the whole class to study.
Week 2- Reading maps (as well as their scales, keys, compass rose and directions)
Week 3-Why animals form groups (safety, families, community, etc.)
Week 4-Geography of the United States
Week 5-Inherited traits in organisms (why some offspring have different characteristics than their siblings.)
Week 6-The U.S. Constitution (what it means in our everyday lives.)
Week 7-How the environment impacts traits (what animals and plants have been impacted by those environmental through history.)
Week 8-The Bill of Rights (and what they mean in the grand scheme of things.) 
Week 9-Fossils and what they can tell us about the past (as well the different types of rocks)
Week 10-Geographic features (land and water forms), 
Week 11-Beginning economics (Goods & services and how they impact our every day lives.)
Week 12- The solar system
Week 13-The 50 states and capitals (as well as everything special each state has to offer.)
Week 14-The 3 branches of the U.S. government (what their jobs/roles are in the US.)
Week 15- The deep ocean (and all of strange and amazing animals that live there!)
All work will be completed in class. Worksheets and projects can be assigned at parent request for state verification. 
Please make sure that students have a small whiteboard or paper and markers available during class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Progress can be requested throughout the semester but a written report will be provided at the end of the semester, with a letter grade. 
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be using some fun videos from YouTube to show the students some examples of what we will be studying. 
We might also use Kahoot in order to review subjects that we've studied. 
Neither of the programs will require you to make an account.
All videos and games will be age appropriate. 
We will refer to the Bill of Rights, US Constitution, US & World Maps throughout the semester.
