Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
Intermediate - Advanced Level
In this class, students will participate in various activities to learn about the eight planets in order from the sun.

After watching a popular YouTube planets video, students will learn and practice a “jingle” for the order of the planets from the sun. "My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Noodles": Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

Students will also learn about, color and glue (or write) each of the planets' names together as a class. I include a variety of material and information throughout the lesson, and try to keep the pace moving quickly with minimal distractions or interruptions.

Vocabulary
planet, star, solar system, astronaut, spacecraft, volcano, rust, raging storm, atmosphere

Materials
Planets worksheet printed before class begins, scissors, crayons or colored pencils glue or tape. *Note- The printable worksheet is an important part of this class because after we "visit" and talk about each planet, learners complete activities on the worksheet. If you are unable to print the worksheet, please provide a few pieces of paper and crayons or colored pencils and position yourself nearby in case your learner needs help.

Learning Goals

Students will learn the characteristics of the eight planets in our solar system.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Learners will be cutting and gluing the planet names from the printed worksheet so parental guidance might be necessary if your child needs help with that. NOTE: There is a lot of information included when talking about the planets so this not a beginner ESL class. The pace will be too fast for beginners. I recommend a minimum of A2 for this class.
Supply List
Planets worksheet printed before class begins, scissors, crayons or colored pencils, glue or tape. The worksheet is in the classroom attached to my welcome message. Please look for it there.

NOTE: For younger children, it is recommended and helpful if someone cuts apart the planet names at the bottom of the paper before class so learners can listen to the planet song without being distracted by cutting.

Hello! My name is Sharon, Teacher Sharon. I am both thankful and excited to have this opportunity to help children from all over the world have fun while learning. I love making learning fun!

I have my Masters of Education (MEd) and over 20 years of experience teaching and learning from children of all ages. I have experience as a nursery school director, a Kid's Club supervisor (twice) and a classroom teacher for Pre-K through high school. I have also taught technology, after-school elementary science classes, cupcake decorating, and brick building.

I am very fortunate to have grown up overseas and have lived all over the world. Some of my many passions include creating fun, educational classes, scuba diving, traveling, science, crafting, my precious dog, cat, fish and snails and of course teaching.

I like to keep class sizes small to help learners engage and participate. If your child is interested in any of my classes that are not currently scheduled, or if a different time or day would work better for you, please feel free to contact me.

Learning in my classroom is engaging, energetic, fun, enjoyable, upbeat and entertaining. "Your child won't want to leave at the end of class and will beg to come back for more." (That's my superhero catch phrase.)

NOTE: I am very flexible with class scheduling. If you are interested in one of my classes, but you don't see it listed on a day or time that you want, please find a class that is already listed when you want the class. Send me a message and I will do my best to switch the class that you want with the one that is already listed.

I look forward to helping your child have fun while learning. Have a wonderful day,

~Teacher Sharon🙂
