Science News Discussion Club - High School
In this ongoing course, students will discuss current events in scientific discovery.
Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Science is always changing as we learn more and more about our universe and our world! Stay up-to-date with what's happening in this discussion-based group. Each session, we will choose one or more articles from the Science News website to engage critically with. We will work together to determine what exactly was discovered, how that discovery changes the state of our knowledge, how the discovery could be used for good, bad, or otherwise in our lives, and what new questions the discovery...
Students will improve their critical thinking skills and grow as deep, ethical thinkers as well as staying up-to-date on how science as a discipline is growing.
I taught high school physics for 4 years, and also performed undergraduate research related to laser physics and gravitational waves.
No work is necessary outside of our meeting times, although learners may be interested in perusing the Science News webpage ahead of time.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
We will refer to articles posted on the Science News webpage.
