🐄🐋🐊🦚🦩🐳🐢🐝🐷🐸🐧🐙🦃In this ongoing science and literacy class, the students will listen to a non fiction story read fluently and will learn about and discuss living things during the "research" part of the class. The students will then brainstorm facts and all learners will be encouraged to participate and share what they know. During the directed drawing portion of the class, the students will step by step draw a life cycle or an animal with non fiction labels and add color to the picture. They will share the project with their classmates throughout the class, if they feel comfortable doing so. The finished life cycle non fiction research project will be shared at the end of the class for all to admire! *These lessons do not build on each other, so feel free to sign up your learner when it fits their schedule and when it is a topic of interest. Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science, including magnets and animal life cycles into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop an academic foundation and gain academic confidence with a love of learning. Your child will be a life time reader!
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning!
