30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Kids are natural scientists! They are full of questions about how the world works. In this class we will learn about what scientists do and learn some science vocabulary, such as what it means to make a prediction. Then we dive in and become scientists ourselves! We will ask questions, make predictions, test several items to see if they sink or float and then record our findings. At the start of class we will review a few slides to introduce our vocabulary, but the rest of the class will be hands-on. Students are encouraged to have a few items in front of them and a container of water so that they can test their own items and share their results with the class. (A towel for under their work space is also recommended). I will be walking the students through the process of making predictions, testing several items and then sharing our observations to see if our predictions were correct. Finally, we will record our results so that we can share our findings with our families.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to make predictions and observations as they participate in our science experiment.

Parental Guidance

Students also should be monitored using scissors, or you can choose to pre-cut the pieces on the second page and not have your student use scissors.
