What's included
Homework
In addition to watching and responding to the instructional videos, each class will have some sort of homework opportunity for further learning. I will post 2-5 options, and students may choose the assignment that interests them the most. Once their assignment is complete, they should share about it in the classroom. Homework should take less than 30m a week to complete and may include further reading, simple experiments, continued observations, or another relevant option.Class Experience

Do you have a child who loves earth and space science? This class is a semester-long survey of beginning science concepts in earth and space science and includes all of the earth and space science material from my Science Foundations classes. Students are not required to have any prior scientific experience. Schedule: Week 1 - Gravity --What is gravity and what are it's characteristics? Week 2 - Earth's Rotation --Exploration of earth's rotation and how it causes day and night. Week 3 - Maps --Learn how to read and draw maps. Week 4 - Cardinal Directions --Learn the cardinal directions and how to orient oneself in everyday life. Week 5 - Biomes --Weather, climate, and their effect on ecosystems. Week 6 - Time --Relating time to earth's turning. Week 7 - Seasons --Relating the seasons to earth's orbit around the sun. Week 8 - Gravity 2 --Things fall at the same rate. Week 9 - Rocks and Fossils --The process of rock and fossil formation. **Class Format** This is a flexible schedule class with NO live meetings. Monday --Prerecorded instructional videos will be posted by 8am (MST) each Monday. Videos will be 6-13 minutes in length. Wednesday --By Wednesday of each week, each student will need to post in the classroom a short written or video response to the video as well as a picture of the entry they made in their science journal about that weeks topic. Friday --In addition, students will also be required to complete a small homework assignment by Friday. These assignments will be posted at the same time as the instructional videos on Mondays, so students will have the entire week to work on them. Don't wait until the last minute! For more on the homework, see the homework section below.
