In this on-going class, elementary students will explore daring science through discussions, experiments, observations, and presentations.
Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
In class we will start with a review of the homework (if applicable). Then I will introduce a new topic for us to explore and discuss. Usually, there will be an experiment for the students to observe. We will learn the necessary terminology and concepts related to each topic. We will then try to think of our own experiment to test our ideas. Students will be assigned homework to perform the experiment and record their results to present in the next class. Homework
Frequency: includedFeedback: includedDetails: Homework will be assigned based on the topic of the week. It could be something simple that only takes 30 minutes or it could be an ongoing experiment that lasts for a few days. Homework is not graded, but will be discussed in the next class.Assessment
Frequency: includedDetails: After each class, notes will be provided to review everything we covered and to remind the students of the homework for the week.
Required supplies for homework will be items commonly found around the home (toy cars, string, potato) or cheap and easy to purchase (balloons, cola). These will be communicated verbally in class and in writing after class as each experiment requires.
Any safety concerns with experiments will be shared with each experiment. All students should be supervised when doing science experiments in the home.
