30 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
Homework will be assigned based on the topic of the week. It could be something simple that only takes 30 minutes or it could be an ongoing experiment that lasts for a few days. Homework is not graded, but will be discussed in the next class.Assessment
After each class, notes will be provided to review everything we covered and to remind the students of the homework for the week.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
In class we will start with a review of the homework (if applicable). Then I will introduce a new topic for us to explore and discuss. Usually, there will be an experiment for the students to observe. We will learn the necessary terminology and concepts related to each topic. We will then try to think of our own experiment to test our ideas. Students will be assigned homework to perform the experiment and record their results to present in the next class. Here are some of our topics: Week of May 28: Balloons - What makes them pop or not? Week of June 4: Pendulums Week of June 11: Newton's Laws of Motion Week of June 18: Cryptography
Learning Goals
Students will learn that science is fun!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I have experience with all ages. I have worked as a preschool teacher and preschool director. I have taught all subjects in a public elementary school. I have taught all middle school subjects in a private school. I also have experience teaching gifted and talented students as well as special education students through high school. At the high school level I have taught mostly math and science, but a few other subjects as well (logic, consumer finance, study skills, etc). I believe all students should be taught to learn starting from what they currently know. Whether it is a 10 year old just learning to sound out words or a 6 year old earning his first high school credit. I have experience with both!
I have my Master's Degree in Education. I am a mother of twin middle school students (both are twice exceptional) and a large dog. I enjoy going for walks, reading, solving logic puzzles, and completing escape rooms.
