Class Experience

Welcome to Science Exploring: Antarctic Wildlife With Ms. B

Students will be introduced to Antarctica Wildlife through Google slides, peer and teacher interaction. As the animal life is dependent on the sea and are mainly warm blooded, they tend to be pretty large as a survival technique against the extreme and relentless cold. That Antarctica can support such an abundance of large animals is a result of the productivity of the southern polar sea. Students will discover what they can do to help the animal life in Antarctica.

As a class we will work together to create an anchor chart using facts about wildlife. We will learn a natural habitat for each animal, predators of those animals. and how the extreme weather of Antarctica effects the wildlife. This class will meet for 1 week, 5 times, for 45 minutes. This is in extension of my other class Discovering Antarctica. It is not necessary to have taken Discovering Antarctica. I will begin on day one with a brief introduction of Antarctica. This will build into the wildlife of Antarctica.

Day 1: Students will create a pocketbook to collect all of their activities. Students will add their anchor chart with Antarctic Wildlife. As a class students will learn about Emperor penguins.

Day 2: Students will add their anchor chart with Antarctic Wildlife. We will also have 1 printable for this day. As a class students will learn about King Penguins and how they are different from Emperor Penguins.

Day 3: Students will add their anchor chart with Antarctic Wildlife. We will also have 1 printable for this day. As a class students will learn about Whale species.

Day 4: Students will add their anchor chart with Antarctic Wildlife. We will also have 1 printable for this day. As a class students will learn about Weddell Seals and Southern Elephant Seals.

Day 5: Students will add their anchor chart with Antarctic Wildlife. We will also have 1 printable for this day. As a class students will learn about Krill, Wandering albatross and Giant petrel.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Brienna. Students can call me Ms. B.
When the pandemic started, I knew right away that homeschooling was the journey our family would be taking. I have been homeschooling along with teaching. I began teaching when I was 18! I fell in love with teaching and showing students that they were Rockstars! (Reading Rockstar, Math Rockstar, Social Studies Rock Star). It was very important to me that learners felt that they were awesome and could rock any subject that was taught.

I have two amazing kids!! A Jr. in high school and a middle school learner. Our favorite things to do as a family is to travel and collect board games.

I am a huge advocate for special needs students. My son’s journey with Autism and ADHD taught me so much from learning about different therapies to IEP goals. I create classes so that all children with different abilities can participate and feel valued.

With my ten years’ experience, as a preschool teacher my passion is teaching children through engaging activities, while having fun. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a private tutor for Kindergarten through 6th grade.

Currently I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and becoming a certified Curriculum Specialist. With different classroom setting experiences I had the opportunity to focus on phonics, reading, sensory activities, science experience and history. Getting children excited about learning is what drives me every day.
I cannot wait to teach your children here at Outschool!
