US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This is a two day Science Camp that is based off of my Science Explorers semester classes. This mini-camp will be dedicated to science experiments. I will provide your child with hands-on experiences as they explore and foster their love of science. I will guide learners and encourage peer collaboration, as they participate in interactive, engaging and exploratory science activities. We will have FUN while DOING activities that focus on logic, biological and physical science, while sparking your child's natural curiosity and a desire to learn. This class will introduce kids to aspects of the scientific method that allow kids the opportunity to make and test predictions. Some of the learning paths that we will use to Observe, Predict and Check will include: cause and effect sequences to everyday objects, structure and function and how nonliving physical things change. Some of the experiments will include chemical reactions and eruptions, liquid density and dissolving solids and color mixing and physical reactions. Students will also have the opportunity to record data and keep track of results. I look forward to meeting your learner as we enjoy simple science projects and experiments designed for kids to learn about science in a fun, interactive way. We will explore chemical reactions with: Corn Lemon Volcanos We will also look at surface friction/tension with: Magic Milk Toilet Paper and Paper Clips Pepper We will learn about density/buoyancy with: Oranges/Eggs I will send out the supply list the weekend before class, so that you are able to gather the supplies needed. Most of the supplies needed are things that you will probably have around the house.
Learning Goals
With simple science projects and experiments your learner will be introduced to the steps of the Scientific Method.
Making initial observations
Coming up with a question of interest based on the observations
Developing a hypothesis or prediction to go along with the question
Experimenting and testing
Gathering and recording results of tests and experiments and drawing conclusions
Sharing and discussing result
We will be able to cover most of the steps pretty well just by talking about…
what they think will happen.

Parental Guidance
There will be an experiment which will require an adult to have cut the top and bottom of a lemon, prior to the begining of class. There may be one or two times where hot water is required and children will need assistance.
Supply List
I will be sending out a list of supplies upon enrollment. Many things can be found around the house. Here is a list of possible supplies. Your enrollment pdf will contain the exact list of supplies needed for your camp. It won't be everything from this list but I wanted to include all of the possibilities, to give you a general idea of what is needed. Adult-sized shirt (lab coat) composition book/spiral notebook, ruler, colored pencils, markers, crayons baking soda lemons vinegar food coloring cookie sheet/tray bowls mason jars/clear glasses measuring cups/spoons popping corn ice cubes milk pepper paper clip square of toilet paper liquid dish soap
