Class Experience

Students will learn how scientific study works, why recording and then analysing results is important. They will conduct experiments to learn about concepts such as osmosis and DNA
I am a primary school teacher and I have taught science experiments to young children for many years
Learners will be expected to conduct experiments, record results and participate in online activities
Here is the full equipment list for the 8 week course, before each experiment the equipment needed will be given so you do not need to collect all of the supplies at once. Supplies: • a cucumber • a kiwi • olive oil • a potato • salt • sugar • washing-up liquid • yeast • distilled water. • methylated spirits (or other form of alcohol) Equipment list • cling film • oven gloves • a freezer • an ice cube tray • kitchen scales • a marker pen • a microwave or oven • a paper clip • a printer • a ruler • a vegetable peeler • drinking glasses • knife.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some of the experiments may require parental supervision younger children, for example the fruit may need to be cut and use of the microwave to heat the potatoes.
