Class Experience
In this ongoing class, we will perform a different science experiment or hands on activity each week. Learners can join at any time. At the end of each class we will also play a game (Blooket, Kahoot, Nearpod, or Gimkit) to review what we learned. I I love involving students in discussion and sharing what we are doing each class! Learning goals each week will be aligned with middle school science standards.
I've been teaching middle school comprehensive science since 2014 and I taught 5th-grade science prior to moving to middle school. I currently help design activities that support the 7th & 8th-grade curriculum for all of the science teachers. I will be incorporating reading and writing in this science course as well. I have a master's degree in reading and writing, and I am a firm believer of reading and writing in the content area.
There will be no homework for this course. If a learner would like extra work to practice, I can definitely provide that upon request.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some activities will require supervision. I will always make note of that in the Outschool classroom prior to those labs/activities. We will be using Blooket, Nearpod, Kahoot, and Gimkit to play review games each week. I will be sharing lab/activity handouts through Google Drive.
