In this one time class students will observe (participation is optional) an experiment with leaves to find out what color they will change to.

In this class students will discover what color a leaf will turn in the fall. They will learn why leaves turn different colors in the fall. Students will learn about photosynthesis, how daylight plays a role in the leaves changing color, and they will get to see what color leaves will change to. Students will watch a short video about leaves and we will read a short story about leaves on google slides. There will be questions asked about the slides and movement breaks during the class that...
Students will learn about what makes leaves change color, how plants make food, and will discover the colors hiding in leaves.
Optional homework is to send me a picture of their leaf color strip.
This is optional, students may participate or just watch the experiment. Green leaves (any leaves will work) Glass jar Rubbing alcohol Bowl Hot water Paper coffee filter - cut into a strip
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The time the experiment takes is longer than the class, so paticpation in the expriment is optional. Students may need adult supervision for the expriment as well.
