30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Our escape room participants will be junior hematologists who have been shrunk into the human blood stream to find the golden platelet. We have under 30 minutes to explore the blood stream, answer mystery questions about blood, and find the golden platelet. We will learn about: 1. Components of blood and their functions (e.g. red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets) 2. What is transported in blood (e.g. oxygen) 3. The difference between arteries and veins This class will be done as a group of video participants. Clues will be read, timers will be ticking, and team work and positivity will be key. The general class outline is as follows: Warm-Up Activity and Review of Escape Room Rules (5 Minutes): Participants will be introduced to each other. We will complete a warm up activity together about blood. We will go over the escape room rules. Although not in a virtual escape room set, we will still have clues to be read out loud, timers counting down, on screen clues to be solved as a team, and questions are always encouraged. Escape Room (20 Minutes): Before entering the escape room, our junior hematologists will receive an overview about blood. Once, in the escape room, there will be several trivia questions related to the above three things we will learn about (components, transportation, and arteries versus veins). As a team, we will solve the trivia questions and be given a clue to where the golden platelet is. Once all questions are solved, we then solve the mystery word about where the golden platelet is. Once this is solved, participants have completed the escape room. Hooray! Wrap Up (5 Minutes): Team members will share accomplishments and receive their certificates. Alternatively, certificates will be attached as a file directly.
