Class Experience
In this one-time class, we will explore the world of cats and learn fun and interesting facts. Afterward, we will create a 3-D pop-up cat. During this time, students will be able to socialize in a safe and supportive atmosphere. This craft has a limited and inexpensive supply list. Learners should be able to cut and fold paper, as well as follow simple directions with limited assistance. I feel that children should be encouraged to follow their passions. Children need to know that they...
Students will learn some fun facts about our feline friends and practice fine motor skills while creating a pop-up cat of their own.
I am a homeschooling mom of five kids, ranging in age from ten to nineteen. We are diving into our 6th year of homeschool and we love it. I have a passion for both education and creativity and I love combining the two whenever I can. When I'm not teaching (my kids or someone else's), I run a business based purely on creativity and art. Traveling (and 8 years of formal classes) gave me a handle on the Spanish language. I have a background in general education from 19 years of combined experience teaching in public and charter school settings, as well as tutoring one on one, ESL, and running various camps and activities. My experience ranges from childcare (infant) age all the way through high school age and includes work with neurodiverse and special needs students, as well as students with mental health issues. I have a passion for, and educational background in Graphic Art/Design, however, my degrees are AA in Liberal Studies and a BA in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I am also TESOL certified.
colored paper (a color for your cat, and a background color...If you want to cut eyes out then you will need a color for that too. I just like to draw them on.) scissors glue stick markers YOUR IMAGINATION!
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is an art and crafts-based class. Students will be using scissors, glue, etc...There is an inherent risk of incidents (i.e. minor injury, mess...) when doing crafts. Please make sure that your child has the physical space to be creative and not destructive; as well as the supervision necessary for them to be safe. I do not require that an adult be in the room for this class, but if you believe your child will need supervision or assistance I would ask that you make yourself readily available. As always, you know your child best.
