In this Earth science class, students will work together in an escape room format. The scenario is this - On a scientific research mission to Egypt, the group has accidentally stumbled down deep under an ancient tomb of Pharaoh. They must find the clues and solve the riddle to escape in 30 minutes. The students will take turns selecting pictures that link to questions covering weathering, erosion, deposition, different landforms, quick changes, soil components, and other Earth science concepts. The format of the class will ensure equity of voice, thought, and ideas. Students should be familiar with basic concepts of Earth science at a 4th or 5th grade level.
