Students will learn to speak simple sequence sentences in Spanish to describe the sequence of steps to the elephant toothpaste chemical reaction.
I am a certified bilingual education and science teacher and teach dual language science in both English and Spanish.
- Hydrogen Peroxide 3% Solution (from a pharmacy or grocery store) - Dry Yeast (1 packet or 1 tbps) - Dish Soap (1/4 cup) - Warm Water (3 - Funnel - 1 Empty Water Bottle (16oz) - Paper Towel - Large Tray - A Clear Space - optional safety goggles or glasses
This demonstration is not required for students to complete at home in order to participate. Safety Caution: If you choose to do it with me, please be sure to supervise the demonstration and hand washing that is required afterward. I also recommend a pair of goggles or safety glasses. The materials and products are not to be tasted or placed near the eyes. Also, note that yeast can be a food allergen.
