Description
Class Experience
Students will learn STEM concepts through popular Disney songs. Students will apply and demonstrate what they learned in a class activity/arts and craft project.
I was a New York City public school science teacher for 7 years. I love creating lessons that are interdisciplinary and student-centered. I have experience teaching science content through project based learning that also includes literacy and math. I believe hands on activities help children to learn.
Handouts are provided by the teacher. Many simple arts and crafts supplies will be required: Construction paper, tape, glue, scissors, stapler, glitter (optional), pipe cleaners, googly eyes (optional), aluminum foil, etc. I will post required supplies the week before. I try my very best to make sure ALL students can create the craft/participate in the activity with paper, scissors and tape and/or glue. There is no need to shop for new supplies every week. I try to encourage students to reuse items they have around the house (and it's great for the environment). Let's make it work with what we have!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Many of the crafts require scissors. Therefore, parental supervision is required (for the craft portion of the lesson) to ensure the child's safety. All videos shown are those shown in the original Disney movies. In discussing some science topics (especially living and non-living things) some students may bring up things that have died and/or are dead. While this is not the focus of the discussion or lesson, please know it may come up during lessons. There is at least one project that involves food. Therefore, parents of learners with food allergies, please use your discretion. I will post all ingredients before the weekly class payment is taken from Outschool.
