The unit culminates with a design-engineering project in which students come up with a creative way to help humans and countries manage natural resources. Each week session will have a specific...
MS-LS2-1- Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem. LS2.A- Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems - Organisms, and populations of organisms, are dependent on their environmental interactions both with other living things and with nonliving factors. - In any ecosystem, organisms and populations with similar requirements for food, water, oxygen, or other resources may compete with each other for limited resources, access to which consequently constrains their growth and reproduction. - Growth of organisms and population increases are limited by access to resources.
The teacher holds a multiple subject teaching credential which allows the educator to teach in multidisciplinary areas. The benefit in having this teacher teach this class will be not only focusing on learning science concepts, but also implementing a literacy lens within science. She has 5+ years of experience teaching middle school science using NGSS standards based lessons and inquiry-based model of learning.
The material for the lesson will be posted prior to the start of class. Students may need to print a few handouts throughout this section.
Evaluation will be done the last week of this session and students will present their inquiry-based project to the class.
