In this two week mini unit learners will work on writing and grammar skills for 5th and 6th grade with games and activities.

Beginner - Advanced Level
Come join this interactive, fun class to brush up on your grammar and writing skills! Class Content: During this course we will meet to review fifth and sixth grade skills. During class we will use a variety of methods and learning styles including hands-on projects, paper assignments, sorts, visuals, books, and other activities to help all learners engage and make the most of this class and reinforce grammar and writing skills. We will play games, complete projects and work on listening skills. Why This Class: I have been a brick and mortar teacher for ten years working with all elementary levels. I have seen through experience that school breaks are a critical time to keep those skills sharp and prevent the slides back in their education. Class Materials: Each week learners will be sent all print outs prior to class. These print outs will include a variety of activities for class including a book that all learners can print and keep. Learners will also need basic supplies available for class. These will include pencils, coloring materials, scissors, and glue. Special Considerations: Class dynamics may adjust time requirements up to 5 minutes. Daily Schedule: 5 minutes: introduction and warm up activity 15 minutes: grammar presentation and practice 5 minutes: writing lesson 30 minutes: writing time Tech usage: During class we may play online games utilizing kahoot. Please ensure you’re student either knows how to split their screen or is fine with pairing up with someone or with me depending on class dynamics. Week 1: Day 1 pronouns narrative planning Day 2 prepositions narrative drafting Day 3 conjunctions opinion planning Day 4 interjections opinion drafting Day 5 verb tenses Claims and arguments Week 2: Day 1 verb tenses informative planning Day 2 commas informative drafting Day 3 capitalization persuasive planning Day 4 punctuation persuasive drafting Day 5 types of sentences claims, counter claims, arguments

This class will involve various activities including hands-on, slides, craftivities, games, etc based on the class dynamics so all learners have an opportunity to gain the skills offered in this course.
