US Grade 3 - 8
Let's have fun reaching your reading goals together! Each class we will take turns reading aloud in books that are self-chosen. Student is encouraged to choose books that meet the following criteria: 1. Interest in the subject or characters. 2. Page count between 30-70 (or more) per book. If chapter books are longer, we may read one or two in our time together. 3. Chapter books that are just on the edge of one's reading level are desirable--that way we are always being challenged to read...
Student will gain fluency and comprehension skills as we enjoy student-chosen books to read aloud together.
Homework Offered
All reading will be done together in class. An end-of-book reading response, using guided questions provided by the teacher, will be completed at the end of the course.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessment during class discussions about the books will insure student comprehension and connection to the stories. End-of- book response guidelines will be clear and concise. Most importantly, student will use complete sentences in answering the guided questions about the books, using details from the story to support their answers.Grades Offered
2-4 books, chosen by student, titles shared ahead of time by parent so teacher can get a copy
