Transitioning from middle school to high school brings new academic challenges, especially in the area of reading, where students are expected to engage with more complex texts and analyze them critically. This course is designed to equip students with the advanced reading skills they need to excel in high school. This class is also great for returning high school students! C L A S S T O P I C S : 📚 Strategies for active reading 📚 Literary elements such as plot, character, theme, and symbolism 📚 Comprehension strategies including making predictions, summarizing, and making inferences 📚 Expanding vocabulary through context clues and word roots 📚 A variety of texts, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama By the end of this camp, students will feel more confident and prepared to tackle the reading demands of high school. They will leave with advanced reading skills, a deeper appreciation for literature, and the ability to engage critically with texts across various genres. This class is part of a Back to School Series including classes for both middle & high school in the following topics: 1. Reading 2. Writing 3. Middle/High School Specific Skills & Expectations
