Save $8 with coupon code CARTERSTORY8 Offer expires 11/30/24 Step into a world of imagination and adventure as we dive into beautiful books and engaging stories. This is more than a class - it’s a celebration of creativity and connection! During story time, comfort and expression take center stage. Encourage your learners to grab a favorite plushie or fidget toy—these companions will make the experience even more enjoyable. They can sit, stand, or wiggle freely while soaking up the stories, and with mics muted during this portion of class, learners are welcome to make noise without any worries. When we shift to art time, it’s all about unleashing creativity! I’ll guide the group in rolling, stretching, and shaping air-dry clay or playdough, introducing some fun tools to elevate their artistic journey. Each clay project will reflect the enchanting tales we’ve just explored, but the real magic lies in their unique interpretations—every creation is a masterpiece! Remember, it’s not about being perfect; it’s about embracing the joy of the process. If time permits, we’ll also have a guided clean-up session. Sensory seekers will love squishing and shaping the playdough or clay. Sesory avoiders can rest assured that gluten-free playdough and air-dry clay are fantastic alternatives to the playdough they are probably used to. They’re less sticky and they won’t get flaky with use. Be sure to check the handout in the welcome post for the gluten-free playdough recipe and helpful tips for sensory- avoiding learners. This interactive class will encourage he development of social skills by creating a safe space for self-expression. Feeling secure and valued are the foundations upon which confidence and independence are built. Learners will have opportunities to practice taking turns, sharing their ideas, and celebrating each others’ progress. Guided clean up will gradually develop learners’ sense of responsibility and care for their belongings. Let your learners explore at their own pace, knowing that every step forward is a victory worth celebrating! Join us for this extraordinary journey of discovery, connection, and creativity tailored just for ages 6-9! How is this class different than the preschool version? Same great sensory friendly focus, for an older audience. All the fun, imagination, and support of my younger class, with books specially selected to engage older leaners. We’ll also use a greater variety of tools to shape the playdough or clay. Class is 35 minutes instead of 25, to allow for longer stories and more crafting. Parental Guidance
Playdough:
* Store bought playdough, including the popular brand Play-Doh, may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease.
* There is a gluten free playdough recipe in the attachment to the welcome post.
Air dry clay:
* Air dry clay is labeled as non-toxic but I would not use with children who are likely to try to mouth or eat it
* Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Crayola Model Magic and Model Magic Fusion do not contain gluten (wheat flour). However, they are produced on the same machinery as Crayola Dough which does contain gluten.
* This brand is certified gluten free. I have used the white. The texture is not sticky and it dries as it is shaped. No puffing or shrinking. Some reviews of darker colors, especially black, complain about stickiness and trouble drying. I would guess that is due to the dye, so I would stick with lighter colors. https://a.co/d/ifj5oIU
