Scholar Story Hour
In this 9-week course, small scholars will practice early literacy and mathematics skills integrated with a story. This course is taught by a certified elementary school teacher.

Beginner Level
This class is for students that are starting to learn phonics or need some additional help as identified by their families or classroom teachers. Each Saturday, we focus on 3 letters of the day (sounds, how to write),a sight word of the day, phonemic awareness (rhyming practice/beginning sounds/ending sounds of CVC words), a story of the day, which I will use to also integrate counting (basic addition and subtraction will also be introduced) Below is the list of stories that we will read...
Students will improve their understanding of the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make. Students will improve their phonemic awareness. Students will practice counting to 10 and early math skills. Students will practice their listening and speaking skills in a small group setting ( 8 maximum number of students per session) Each session stands alone, so your little scholar may jump in and join in any session. Students will practice retelling and identifying story elements in a story. They will practice asking and answering questions about a text in the form of a small interactive group to work on their early literacy skills. I am a certified elementary teacher (K-5). Early math skills will also be practiced and introduced (Counting, Adding, and Subtracting up to 10 during this 9-week session).

We will use paper/pencil or a dry erase board and marker for your young scholar to practice academic skills in our small group. We may use safety scissors, construction paper, and glue to create a story time craft during a few sessions.

I use the Get Epic Books Website to read in our story time. I also use Teacher Created Materials that I either created and/or purchased from other educators on Teacher Pay Teachers in the form of Google Slides for Story Time.
