This class is conducted in Spanish 95% of the time and is for already fluent speakers. All students should be currently taking Spanish lessons, or speak Spanish at home as I will not be teaching, only guiding and correcting as necessary. The teacher will not speak any English other than to translate a word or adjective. I am a native Spanish speaker as well as an English as a Second language teacher. The above help me better understand the communication barriers learners face when switching from English to Spanish and vice versa. This allows me to coach and correct students in an intentional and productive (And always warm) way. E.g. in English we place adjectives before nouns (Red shirt), in Spanish we place nouns before adjectives (Camisa roja). I’ve worked with elementary students within public school systems for over 6 years. My time as a teacher has provided me with extensive experience in timely error and pronunciation corrections, scaffolding, pacing, rapport building, comprehension checks, and student encouragement. I especially value the importance of avoiding incidental language with younger learners. Additional Spanish speaking experience: During my employment as a teacher in Madrid, Spain I was also the bi-lingual coordinator between Spanish speaking staff and English (only) speaking teachers. I am currently an instructional assistant in an Early Childhood Education classroom, as well as a Spanish Interpreter for the Special Ed department at the school I work in. My native Spanish speaking, experience working with young learners in an online (language) teaching platform, and experiences facilitating conversations between two languages, makes me a good fit to lead this ‘Show and Tell’ class.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

I value autonomous learning and am more of a guide and facilitator than a traditional teacher. Instead of asking yourself, ‘What can I offer the world?’, begin to ask yourself, ‘What can the world offer ME?’. After two years in business and I.T.,...
