1 live meeting
20 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this class, students will have the chance to check-in, socialize, and participate in scavenger hunts for some light activity! At the start of class, students will check-in using their fingers (1-5) to answer "how are you feeling?" as I do with my own class. Students will have the chance to elaborate and share as they are comfortable. For the scavenger hunt portion of each meeting, I will give students an item to find, and they will have a minute to find and bring this item to their computer screen to show the class. Some clues may be given directly, or I may give students more flexibility. For example, I could ask students to find "something round" and students may be creative with what they find! Or, I may give students a clue such as "sandwich walls" and students would need to find an item that could hold a sandwich together! Students will be given the opportunity to provide input for what they are searching for. They will be encouraged to create tricky clues that I will pool together and use in future scavenger hunts! Each week, students will be given the link to a google form that they can complete as they'd like to be creative with new scavenger hunt items! The idea behind the scavenger hunts is that students will get up and moving, have the opportunity to be creative, and enjoy racing their classmates! This will be a relaxing and welcoming environment that students may join as they are able for a bit of time to socialize as well! This is my class' favourite activity to do during remote learning and I cannot wait to share it with new learners!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello,
I am Ms. Wade! I am an enthusiastic first-year teacher. I look forward to teaching classes about a variety of science topics such as weather and physics. As a fifth grade teacher, I also plan to review several math concepts and present different strategies and visuals to help each topic click for students. My hobbies include swimming, baking, and taking care of my menagerie of plants/animals. I am also passionate about social change and look forward to helping students find their passions. I look forward to creating engaging and interactive lessons for my students!
My work with children started with 10+ years of swim coaching experience. My educational history includes earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Animal Science and Nutrition minors. While I have a passion for science, it was my love of coaching swimming that fostered an interest in teaching children life skills. I recently earned my Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education.
In the classroom, I love to see students working together. I aspire to help students grow not only their understanding of concepts, but as individuals. As a first-year teacher, I am constantly looking for new ideas to best fit the needs of my students. I support inclusivity and strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where each student feels not only welcome, but celebrated as we learn and grow together!
I look forward to seeing you in class!
- Ms. Wade
