Learners are assessed informally throughout class to ensure they can meet the class learning goals.

Class Experience

In this 40 minute class, students learn to confidently assemble and disassemble the saxophone, hold the saxophone, make their first saxophone sound. If there is extra time, students learn to play extra notes (G, A, B, C, D, and E) and play up to six songs! This solid foundation gives your learner a savvy-start for a lifetime of playing! This class is structured in an "I do, we do, you do" format. For example, the instructor assembles a part of their saxophone, the class assembles that specific part, and the instructor spot-checks each child has assembled their saxophone correctly. This ensures the success of every student.

Please note, this class is intended for the very beginning student with no previous knowledge or experience playing the saxophone. If your child has previous experience, feel free to send us a message to discuss alternative options.

Learning Goals

Students will assemble and disassemble the saxophone, adjust the neckstrap, make the first sound, and play three notes (b, a, and g).
