Welcome to Saxon Maths 5/4 Class - Part 1/2 - Lessons 1-59 Math doesn’t need to be scary - and together we will overcome every challenge that your leaner faces. I am happy to meet on a one-off basis, in preparation for an exam, or to tackle a specific issue, or as an ongoing regularly scheduled class. This class is perfect for parents who would like to outsource math instruction, or do not necessarily feel comfortable teaching the material. I will meet your learner where they are academically and guide them through the material at a pace that is comfortable to them. APPROACH. My approach to teaching maths is keeping the material fun and interactive. I don’t like to lecture - instead preferring to engage the students and make them invested in the material. SUPPLIES. I have digital copies of the 5/4 Textbook, Worksheets, Tests and Answer Guide, so I am prepared to start at any point in the book, and guide your learner the rest of the way! Just bring your copy of the book, pencil, and paper to class! EXPERIENCE. I have taught maths for over a decade, used Saxon as an homeschooler, and am a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. I also have two decades of experience in the homeschool / home educated community. SAXON MATHS 5/4. This course is appropriate for most fourth graders and those fifth graders who lag slightly behind grade level. Among topics covered in Math 5/4 are addition (review), subtraction, multiplication (up to multiplying a three-digit number by a two-digit number), division (dividing by two-digit numbers), time, measurement, money, area, perimeter, fractions, mixed numbers, arithmetic algorithms, geometry, negative numbers, powers and roots, two-step word problems, decimals, averaging, estimation, patterns, sequences, statistics, probability, and Roman numerals. NEED HELP? Not sure where to start, or need help assessing an appropriate level for your child? I am happy to help and can provide a personalised assessment of your child’s preparedness for any level of math. I am also able to help with the transition from public / private school to a home educated setting and maths instruction.
