Learners will complete the first half of Saxon Math Geometry in this 18-week-long semester course. This course will have assignments posted once a week. *Learners must have their own copy of the required books to take this course. The materials are listed in the "Supply List" section. The publisher has expressly stated that their books may not be shown on camera, as Outschool records all classes. Teachers are not allowed to show the books on camera per the publisher. Optional homework drop-in class as needed: https://outschool.com/classes/math-homework-drop-in-Q2uTCAma#ushxZxpxFU Pacing: The teacher will post which will include the week's teaching videos, lessons, and assignments. The learner can reply by posting the answers to assigned homework, asking questions, or replying to discussion questions. Learners are not required to submit homework, it is optional to submit homework. Teacher Videos: The teacher provides videos for the "New Concepts" which show the new material and the examples in the "New Concepts". These videos will help explain how to complete the work. Assignments (Required Curriculum Work): Aim to complete one lesson's worth of activities per day. **Lesson Practice: Learners will complete the problem(s), and post the answer(s) in a comment on the teacher's post. Learners will post their work (as a photo or typing it out), and not only the answers. This is about 4-6 problems to discuss with the teacher (and other learners) per day in the lesson thread. The teacher will respond to each student's answers and work. Learners should remember that the answers and step-by-step directions are in the "Solution Manual". If a learner has questions, they should contact the teacher. **Mixed Practice: The learner should complete all the problems from the "Mixed Practice". The learner does not need to submit the answers to this material, however, if the learner has questions, they may submit problems for review or questions. **Investigations: The teacher will post the investigation information. The learner and the teacher will discuss the topic in the topic thread. **Tests: Learners will refrain from posting the answers in the classroom, however, they can message the teacher directly. **Learners have the option to submit tests for grading. **Topics: The learners will collaborate to complete the Topic questions, discussing the topic in the classroom post. Beyond the Curriculum Work: Learners do not have to complete all the extras. **ixl.com: When possible, matching ixl lessons will be posted to go with each book lesson. These are optional activities and not required to complete. Please ask the teacher if you would like an included username and password to take advantage of the subscription. **Khan Academy: When possible, matching Khan Academy lessons will be posted to go with each book lesson. These are optional activities and not required to complete. **Online Activity: Learners will complete the individual activities with each lesson. Each activity will be posted in the teacher's post. This may be something such as a whiteboard activity, manipulatives, online flashcards, or more. For example, https://www.mathwarehouse.com/geometry/quadrilaterals/parallelograms/interactive-parallelogram.php . Learners will take a photo of the activity and post it in the teacher's post as a comment. The discussion will then be based on comparing the different posted photos - are the shapes similar, congruent, etc. **Real-Life Activity: Learners will respond to questions pertaining to real life with a comment on the teacher's post. If the learner knows how to associate the lesson material with a real-life topic (such as at a job, or shopping, etc), the learner should discuss this in the lesson post. Class topics can be found in the table of contents found here: https://www.christianbook.com/saxon-geometry-homeschool-kit/9781600329760/pd/329760 - I am not affiliated with this website nor am I suggesting it, I am only showing the table of contents.
