Saxon Math 87 A (Pre-Algebra)
The class fulfills 1/2 of a credit or 1 semester of a Pre-Algebra . It satisfies the math requirement for high school math. Students are taught using Saxon's Math 87 2nd edition hardback book.

1-2 hours per week. I will offer tests that are to be completed starting after lessons 1-8 are complete and are to be given after every 4 lessons. These tests are optional.Letter Grade

US Grade 6 - 9
This class will cover the first 60 lessons of Saxon Math 87 2nd edition textbook or a 1/2 credit of a PreAlgebra course. I work through lessons 4 and 3 teaching as I go. The student is to work the two lessons with me and then complete lessons 2 and 1 on their own. The following week I work through Lessons 8 and 7, teaching as I go and the student works the problems with me and then completes lessons 6 and 5 on their own as review. This continues up to lesson 60. This allows the student to learn all concepts with me and work through 2 lessons with me. Then to review the student will complete 2 lessons on their own.
Learning Goals
The learning goal here is to complete the first 1/2 of Math 87 and prepare the student for second 1/2 of Math 87.There is no memorization required and all students will fill out a reference card with formulas and tips to help solve problems on lessons and tests they complete on their own. A calculator is not allowed in this class.
