I have taught and tutored math for about twenty years. I hold a current teaching certificate in K-8 elementary school, with a focus on math. I am halfway to my master's in secondary math. I really enjoy math - it is very relate-able to food and money!
Homework Offered
Please contact the teacher if the learner has any questions about the work. 1) "Warm-up Activities" - Learners are expected to complete the warm-up activities. 2) "Lesson Practice" - Learners should complete every problem. The "Lesson Practice" covers the material from the "New Concepts". 3) "Mixed Practice" - Learners should complete every problem. Saxon scaffolds upon previous lessons, so completing all the problems is important. Learners or guardians should check the answers in the "Solutions Book". 4) "Tests" - Guardians should check the answers using the "Solutions book". 5) "Fact Quizzes" - Fact quizzes should be completed with each lesson. No more than one per day should be completed to ensure repetition for learning. 6) "Investigations" - These should be completed as intended. 7) "Topics" - These should be completed as intended. 8) "Supplemental" problems - These are found at the back of the big book for additional problems. They can be completed as needed for additional practice. These will not be reviewed unless a learner requests a specific question.
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
