Learners will complete the first half (lessons 1-60) of Saxon Math 3 in this 16-week long semester course. This course will meet once a week. I have taught and tutored math for about twenty years. I hold a current teaching certificate in K-8 elementary school, with a focus on math. I am halfway to my master's in secondary math. I really enjoy math - it is very relate-able to food and money!
1) "Lesson Preparation" - Please be sure students have the correct supplies needed for each class. 2) "The Meeting" - This should be done daily with each lesson homework. 3) "Assessment" - Assessments should be done and checked with the solutions. If you would like a grade for this class, the assessments should be submitted to the teacher. 4) "Class Practice" - This is largely fact practice, which should be done daily with the homework worksheets. 5) "Written Practice" - This should be completed with each lesson. Students should bring all worksheets to class the following lesson for discussion.

Progress will be evaluated with the Saxon tests and homework. Minute fact tests should be completed without any assistance from calculators, parents, etc. Assigned Saxon tests should be completed without assistance from parents or other people. Calculators may or may not be used, and this will be stated by your teacher when the assessment is assigned.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
External Resources (optional): All the external resources in this class are optional. This class includes a paid subscription to ixl.com for the duration of this course. This is an optional resource and not required for learners. Learners will be given a username and password upon request. This class also provides matching supplementary lessons from Khan Academy and Splashlearn - both of which you can use without accounts, or create accounts. Both of these resources are optional and not required for this class as well.
