Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Welcome to Saxon Maths Geometry - Part 1/2, Lessons 1 - 59

Together we will tackle the first half of Saxon Math Geometry!

Math doesn’t need to be scary - and together we will overcome every challenge that your leaner faces. I am happy to meet on a one-off basis, in preparation for an exam, or to tackle a specific issue, or as an ongoing regularly scheduled class.

This class is perfect for parents who would like to outsource math instruction, or do not necessarily feel comfortable teaching the material. I will meet your learner where they are academically and guide them through the material at a pace that is comfortable to them.

APPROACH.
My approach to teaching maths is keeping the material fun and interactive. I don’t like to lecture - instead preferring to engage the students and make them invested in the material.

SUPPLIES.
I have digital copies of the Saxon Geometry Textbook, Worksheets, Tests and Answer Guide, so I am prepared to start at any point in the book, and guide your learner the rest of the way! Just bring your copy of the book, pencil, and paper to class!

EXPERIENCE.
I have taught maths for over a decade, and am a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. I also have two decades of experience in the homeschool / home educated community.

SAXON MATHS GEOMETRY
Topics include triangle congruence, postulates and theorems, surface area and volume, two-column proofs, vector addition, and slopes and equations of lines, Saxon features all the topics covered in a standard high school geometry course. Two-tone illustrations help students really "see" the geometric concepts, while sidebars provide additional notes, hints, and topics to think about. Parents will be able to easily help their students with the solutions manual, which includes step-by-step solutions to each problem in the student book; and quickly assess performance with the test book (test answers included). Tests are designed to be administered after every five lessons after the first ten.

NEED HELP?
Not sure where to start, or need help assessing an appropriate level for your child? I am happy to help and can provide a personalised assessment of your child’s preparedness for any level of math. I am also able to help with the transition from public / private school to a home educated setting and maths instruction.
