US Grade 8 - 11
Intermediate - Advanced Level
In Algebra 2, homeschooling students and parents realize they need help. As a homeschooling parent of about 20 years and a current math teacher (both online and at a learning center), I understand this need. I am passionate about providing instruction to help students master math topics. I taught Saxon math to my own kids and have 30 years of experience teaching Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and Precalculus in the classroom and tutoring. This includes 8 years of online instruction. This experience has helped me learn a variety of ways to make math more easily understood. I am an enthusiastic instructor and I like to use available technology to make online learner better. In class, I will provide instruction on the daily topics and offer opportunities for students to participate and ask questions. In addition, students can post in the classroom questions in advance, and I will either answer in class or in a response in the classroom. Students will be encouraged to complete example problems in class so that they can get immediate feedback. I will make every effort to ensure that all students have a positive learning experience. I recommend that student's leave their cameras on so that I can get visual cues on their understanding. This also helps them to interact and have a full educational experience. Students will practice SAT and ACT type questions as well as learn to use Desmos, which is the calculator on the digital SAT. This class will cover lessons 63 - 98. The next class will cover the next 31 lessons. In this way you can complete the book. Two lessons will be taught each meeting day. Please see the schedule for changes due to holidays. In the event that a weekly meeting needs to be rescheduled, it will meet on Friday at the same time.
Learning Goals
After each class, students should leave class with a foundational knowledge of the daily concepts.
Students will be prepared to complete practice problems on their own. I recommend that they complete the practice set (labeled with letters) as soon as possible. Then they should complete the numbered practice problems.
