Class Experience

You can call it Boba Tea, Milk Tea, or Bubble Tea, but this Taiwanese-drink was invented in the 1980’s and quickly became a hit worldwide. The boba pearls in the drink are gluten-free and are made of tapioca starch, which is extracted from cassava roots from South America. It floats in the comfort drink called Boba or Bubble Tea, which also contains tea mixed with either milk or fruits. I first tried Boba when I was 12, and I’ve been hooked onto it ever since.

In this class, we’ll make the classic Pearl Milk Tea and Matcha Green Tea with Cheese Foam and Boba Pearls. Throughout the class, I’ll guide the students to make each drink.

Note:
-If you prefer to make only one of these drinks, please sign up for "The Classic Pearl Milk Tea with Tapioca Pearls" class or "Matcha Green Tea with Cheese Foam and Boba Pearls" class.
-No prior experience is required.
-You can omit the Boba Pearls if you’d like. The drinks don’t require them.
-Black tea will need to be made an hour before class to ensure that there is enough time to make both drinks.
-Please view the Supply List section to have the right ingredients for each specific Boba Teas.
-Adult supervision is needed to help learners boil liquid on the stove.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I’m obsessed with Boba Teas! I started making them five years ago when I realized I spent way too much money at the bubble tea shops. In 2019, my passion for the drinks even led me to visit the original boba tea cafe in Taichung, Taiwan.
