US Grade 3 - 6
A strong sentence is the foundation in which great stories are told. And in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, writing a quick sentence is how many people communicate. Thus, it’s important that students have a good command of writing sentences, so they can express themselves in the classroom, on social media, and in email communications. Students should have prior knowledge of the four basic types of sentences (exclamatory, interrogative, statement, imperative ) and four basic structures (simple, compound, complex, compound-complex). This class serves as reinforcement and practice of these sentences. ** Students should be able to type sentences independently to fully participate in the class. Or, students should take photo of handwritten sentences and email the photo to teacher after class. Class Format: 1. Welcome Q&A 2. Review of Specific Sentence (complex, exclamatory, etc.) 3. Roll the dice (Story Cubes selection) 4. Teacher’s sentence creation (sentence example) 5. Class creates a sentence with Story Cubes selection 6. Individual student create a sentence 7.
