Beginner - Advanced Level
Do you like Minecraft? Astroneer? Mindustry? Factorio? Take it all to a new level with this combination of all of these in this 1st-person, multiplayer, Engineering Simulation Game!!! We will land as "Pioneers" on a new alien planet, and together we will collect resources to build and automate huge factories. We will have to utilize teamwork, and develop an engineering mindset to optimize and overcome many challenges along the way. All this on our private dedicated multiplayer server! Dive into the world of engineering with our innovative class that uses the game Satisfactory! Here's what you'll explore: - Real-World Engineering: Learn about supply chains, automation, and resource management in a fun, interactive setting. - Problem-Solving Skills: Tackle real-world challenges like efficiency, sustainability, and system optimization through game-based scenarios. - Design and Iteration: Iterate on your designs, much like engineers do in the field, to build the most efficient factories. - Team Collaboration: Work with classmates in multiplayer mode to understand the dynamics of teamwork in engineering projects. - Technical Proficiency: Navigating and building in a 3D environment enhances spatial awareness and 3D design skills, which are crucial in many engineering fields. Each week we will: -Review our objectives & needs in game -Brainstorm the best ways to fill the needs & reach the objectives -Divide the workload between participants -Overcome challenges -Help each other out, as needed -End with a review of accomplishments, and setting plans for the next week Come Join Us! - Bring the strengths you've already developed. - Work on new areas to develop new engineering strengths. - Synergize with us, as we bring them all into a greater whole!
Learning Goals
- Real-World Engineering: Learn about supply chains, automation, and resource management in a fun, interactive setting.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Tackle real-world challenges like efficiency, sustainability, and system optimization through game-based scenarios.

Learning Needs
Having great success with all types of student who want to learn, including many neurodiverse students, over the >4200 hours I've taught on Outschool, I'm happy to work with kids experiencing ASD, ADHD, etc!
Parental Guidance
This class will take place in a private multiplayer server for the game "Satisfactory".
We will be talking via the Zoom class, as with all Outschool classes, but will be interacting on the server together. This will require buying the game (~$40USD), and setting up an account (free) to connect to the server.
This game does include some battling with alien animal creatures. (Certain areas are guarded by them, they do not keep spawning and attacking you repeatedly like Minecraft, etc).
Pre-Requisites
Requirements:
- You will need the game "Satisfactory!" (The game is available through Steam)
- You will need a computer that can run the game smoothly enough to play. (See system requirements where you would purchase the game)
Supply List
Requirements: - You will need the game "Satisfactory!" (The game is available through Steam & Epic Games) - You will need a computer that can run the game smoothly enough to play. (See system requirements where you would purchase the game)
