Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 12
With nearly 15 years of experience coaching students for the SAT/ACT national tests, I have distilled the vast number of strategies into those that actually work and can easily be adapted by students. This class is useful to those students who are just starting to prepare for the tests or are confused by the many strategies out there...or for those who are facing the test in the next few weeks and feel like they need a bit more help. This test is not like the tests you take for history or science, and there are strategies that help. I will cover these in the class, using slides and discussion to help you decide which of these strategies will work best for you.
Learning Goals
Students will have an opportunity to explore and adapt those strategies with which they feel comfortable.

Hi, my name is Sandy Grindle, and teaching is my thing! I am state certified in English, History, Government and ESL, but the focus of my career has been English. I have primarily taught 11th and 12th grade English, although I have had experience with teaching as young as 6th grade throughout my career of 40+ years. Ten years ago, I retired from public education and joined the faculty of a small private school for gifted students. This has been an exciting extension to my career, as many of my students are not only academically gifted, but also world-class athletes, musicians, actors, and dancers. My teaching philosophy is: meet students at their level, teach them to do whatever you ask of them, and give them credit for their growth. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy voraciously reading, chatting with my long-time friends, or planning my next online class! I will be offering a variety of classes on Outschool, ranging from courses on writing college application essays to future courses on AP exams, poetry reading, and more! I look forward to seeing you or your student in my classes!
