What's included

2 live meetings
1 hrs 50 mins in-class hours
Homework
1-2 hours per week. The class starts with each child solving one of the past papers from the previous SAT Maths exam. The child is expected to submit his/her work to me so, I understand where he/she needs my help. During the class, we will go over all the questions again and I can give them corrective/constructive feedback about the questions they got wrong. Also at this time, we will go over the concepts and theory in as much detail as needed for the child to answer similar questions in the future without making the same error. There will be a few concepts that we will be reviewing during class. If I feel child needs more practice on specific topic, I will be giving them few practice questions to work on at home which they can submit before the next class.

Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This is a learner-directed review class for various maths topics which are required for SAT Maths Exams. This class is ongoing and will take place 3 times a week for 55 minutes.

Learners will start with pre-work which is to solve SAT Math exams paper. All enrolled children will solve one specific SAT Maths exam's past paper which will be published in the classroom when they enroll. Learners are required to submit their work to me ~2 days before their first class, so I can prepare relevant theory based on the learner's needs and not waste the learner's time teaching something that they already know.

During the actual class, we will work on each and every question. The questions which everyone got correct, we need not spend more time. For the question that even one child didn't get right, we will discuss it as a group and rectify the conceptual errors. If learners need help with more questions, we will spend more time and vice-versa. While working on questions, we will go over relevant theory, and depending on the learner's existing knowledge this may take variable time.

Once the group is done with one paper over x number of sessions, we will start with the next one. Hence, if the child stays with us for a few weeks, we would have worked on n number of past papers and have covered all the different topics that are important for this exam.

Children will get to share and explain how they tried to solve the problem. This will benefit them as they say teaching is twice learning. This way, the children will also know that there could be more than one way of solving 1 problem. Following this process, we will also clarify concepts that require any recap/fine-tune so that children can attempt similar questions in the future.

This will be an ongoing class, so you may enroll children at any time and leave anytime when you think your child is ready. Once we start a new paper to solve, we may take 3-4 classes to complete the same. Hence, there is no weekly schedule specified as there is one in conventional ongoing class at OS.

Given this is an ongoing class, you may enroll your child anytime and leave whenever you feel that the child is ready for the exam.

Learner Supplies List: The Mock Paper that the learners have solved at home and writing tools, notebook, and geometry box.
Learning Goals
The child should feel confident about his/her upcoming SAT Maths exams. My goal is to make sure that the child becomes somewhat more independent than before in his overall journey of learning maths.

Hi there,

A Telecommunication Engineer turned into a Maths teacher here, following my passion and heart!! Being mom of 2 school going children, I always feel that learning Math should be a thought provoking group discussion. Child should be engaged in a way that Math starts making sense to him/her.

I had been a Master Tutor for Math at University of Texas at Arlington from 2004 to 2005, while I was pursuing my Masters of Science - Electrical Engineering with focus in Wireless Engineering. At UTA, I was awarded title of Master Tutor after having taught for 500 + hours and completing Level 1 to Level 3 Tutor's training.

I enjoy teaching:

Higher Grade Subjects like:
Business Math, Calculus, College Algebra, Geometry, Elementary Statistics, Differential Equations

Lower Grade Subjects like:
Algebra, Geometry, Number Systems etc
