We will also be working with systems of equations word problems.Lesson 9The 6 mistakes that students make on the Reading Test and how to overcome themIn this lesson we talk about the 6 most common mistakes that students make on the reading exam. This is to help students learn how to eliminate wrong answers so then they can get closer to the right answer.Lesson 10How to Tackle the Information and Ideas Questions on the Reading ExamIn this lesson students will learn the types of question for the information and ideas questions on the reading and writing exam. Students will also practice these questions through a drill.Week 6Lesson 11Passport to Advanced Mathematics: Solving quadratic equationsIn this lesson students will learn how to solve quadratic equations by factoring, taking square roots, using the quadratic formula, and completing the square.Lesson 12Grammar Bootcamp: Parallelism and comparison problems.In this lesson students will be working on the grammar concepts of parallelism and comparison problems. How to use pronouns, where to use which pronouns, pronoun antecedent agreement etc. Students will find and correct errors as well as show proper pronoun usage in sentences.Week 10Lesson 20Passport to Advanced Mathematics: Working with PolynomialsIn this lesson students will learn how to add, subtract, and multiply polynomials.Lesson 21How to Tackle Expression of Ideas Questions on the Reading ExamIn this lesson, students will learn the types of questions for the Expression of Ideas questions on the reading and writing exam. Students will also practice these questions through a drill.Week 11Lesson 22Passport to Advanced Mathematics: Nonlinear graphs, linear and quadratic systemsIn this lesson students will be learning how to graph linear and quadratic systems on Desmos to be able to figure out the solutions to these types of systems.Lesson 23Grammar Bootcamp: Modifier problemsIn this lesson, students will learn about misplaced modifiers and other modifier problems they will be able to recognize and correct modifier problems.Week 12Lesson 24Problem-solving and Data analysis: Ratios, percentages, and unitsIn this lesson, students will work on word problems involving rations, percentages and units.Lesson 25How to Tackle Standard English Convention Questions on the Reading ExamIn this lesson, students will learn the types of questions for the standard English conventions questions on the reading and writing exam. Students will also practice these questions through a drill.Week 13Lesson 26Problem-solving and Data analysis: Tables, graphs, and scatterplots.In this lesson students will learn how to read tables graphs and scatterplots and work on problems involving these concepts.Lesson 27Grammar Bootcamp: Tricky tenses, irregular verbs, and the subjunctive moodIn this lessons students are going to focus in on verb concepts. We will look at tricky verb tenses, irregular verbs, and the subjunctive mood. Students will be able to recognize mistakes in verb usage and correct them.Week 14Lesson 28Volume and right triangle questionsIn this lesson students will work on volume of different types of figures. They will also learn about two types of special right triangles: 45, 45, 90 and 30, 60, 90 and the rules that go along with these special triangles.Lesson 29The SAT Essay: How to master itIn this lesson students will learn a structure for the SAT Essay. They then will write an essay using a SAT prompt.Unit 3Unit ThreeUnit Three5 lessons2 WeeksWeek 15Lesson 30Grammar Bootcamp: Idiom and Diction ErrorsThis will be the last grammar lesson of the class and we will be talking about idiom and diction errors. Students will be able to recognize errors in idioms and diction and fix them.Lesson 31The Unit Circle and Trigonometry questionsThis is the last math lesson for the class. Students will learn the rules of the unit circle and how to use it to answer trigonometry problems. Students will also learn the acronym SOH CAH TOA and how to use it to solve trigonometry problems.Lesson 32Practice Test ThreeIn this lesson, students will be taking one last practice test to see how they have improved since the beginning of the class.Week 16Lesson 33Going over the English Section of Practice Test 3Students will watch videos that go over the English sections for practice test 3.Lesson 34Going over the Math Section of Practice Test 3Students will watch videos that go over the Math sections for practice test 3.
Students will improve their understanding of the concepts on the SAT to become more familiar with the test, raise their scores, and get into the college of their dreams
I have been teaching the SAT for about 8 years and usually, my students raise their scores by at least 200 points over the time that they are with me.
Homework Offered
Since this is a flex class all the work will be done at home and there will be no live meetings. Students will have videos to watch throughout the week these videos will take about two hours weekly to watch. Students will be required to do three practice tests outside of class during the course of the 16 weeks. During the weeks that they have these tests, their homework load will be higher as it takes 3 hours to complete a test. On other weeks the work will be minor and students will at most have some drills that should take 30 minutes to an hour on top of the time needed to watch the videos.4+ hours per week outside of class

Students will need something to take notes with. They will need scratch paper to write out math equations. They will also need a calculator to use for the calculator portion of the math test. Lastly, some pages may need to be printed for students to use for class.
I will be providing the practice test for students over the course of the class. Any drills that we will do will also be provided as PDF sheets. Note that students will have to work at their own pace and they will not have live classes throughout the 16 weeks.
We will refer to different SAT practice questions and all drills will be provided as PDF resources for students in the classroom.
