Class Experience

In this class I will show you how to use effective tips for taking section 1 and section 2 of the reading portion of the SAT test. I have used these tips and techniques over the last 7 years with great success. I will review actual practice tests that are available to the students for free on the College Board website. These practice tests are open to the public and don't infringe on copyright laws. I will walk the students through sample questions and we will practice them together. Students will do the work with me and then I will expect them to work on the questions together as a group. I like the students to interact with each other. There are times students will hear the same thing from someone their own age and understand it a little better. Students should be in 10th to 12th grade for this class as the test are designed for these students.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to effectively use the process of elimination in choosing answers, learning how to go back to the text to find information and use annotation skills I will teach them to be successful.

I have a Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy, I have taught kindergarten, second grade, and middle and high school intensive reading classes.
I believe children should enjoy reading and not feel like it is a chore to do or it's boring. Reading is the background and foundation for every job in their future. Parents and educators working together will help ensure their child's success in school. I would like to be a partner in your child's education.
I love to read, quilt, crochet and work on cross stitch projects. I love to travel and see the wonders of the world!
