These include semicolons, colons, periods, dashes, and commas.Week 3Lesson 3PercentagesOur third class will be focused entirely on math. We will also learn the models for exponential growth and decay, which are directly related to percent increase and decrease.Week 4Lesson 4Sentence CompletionsThis is the most vocabulary-oriented of our 12 lessons. We will focus on the best strategies for answering the SAT's words-in-context questions. We'll also discuss ways to improve your vocabulary, both for the SAT and for personal growth.Week 5Lesson 5Student Choice!By week 5, you will have completed two practice tests as homework. This class is your time to ask questions related to these assignments.Week 6Lesson 6Transition WordsIn week 6 we will tackle the SAT's questions where you need to select the correct transition word (for example, however, therefore, specifically, etc.) to describe the relationship between sentences. With our remaining time, we do practice math questions on the topic of rates and ratios.Week 7Lesson 7Command of EvidenceIn week 7 we will analyze the questions that require you to identify the evidence hidden in a prompt that points out the one and only correct answer.Week 8Lesson 8Verbs / Rates and RatiosWe will begin this lesson with a discussion of how the SAT tests verbs and how to correctly answer these questions every time. We will spend the rest of our time on the math topics of rates, ratios, proportions, and units.Week 9Lesson 9Exponents and RootsIn this lesson, we will focus on math questions in the area of algebra 1 and 2 that involve working with polynomials. Make sure to bring your calculator, paper, and pencil because there will be a lot of sample questions for you to try.Week 10Lesson 10Student Choice!By week 10 of this class, you will have completed two more practice tests as homework. This class is set aside for you to ask about the trickiest questions on these tests.Week 11Lesson 11QuadraticsIn week 11 we will focus on the advanced topic of graphing multiple types of nonlinear functions on an xy-plane, with special attention given to quadratic functions. We will also practice different techniques for solving quadratic equations, with and without desmos.Week 12Lesson 12Closing RemarksThe plan for our final week of SAT Power Prep is to stay flexible. We may dig deeper into the topic of solving quadratics and other non-linear equations, or we may revisit a topic from an earlier week that the students would like to see again. Regardless of the content, we'll make sure to close up the class with a rousing pep-talk that will boost everyone's confidence for the big test to come.
