SAT Math Prep Course (Ongoing)
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Throughout these weekly sessions over the summer, students will learn by following steps on how to solve SAT Math practice problems. They will be able to interact with the teacher and others by discussing which ways they want to approach the problem, and if they are stuck, the teacher will start off the problem and guide the students on the necessary steps to solve! The class will follow through a series of SAT Math questions from an official practice exam and do drill problems to acquire better intuition for the test! The overall topics that will be covered for the test include Heart of Algebra, Passport to Advanced Math, and Problem Solving and Data Analysis. These topics will follow in the flow of the SAT Practice test that the class will be following. Therefore, each week will be dictated by whichever problem the class left off on from the previous week. This course will be learner-directed, as we will go at a comfortable pace dependent on the students, covering as many topics/ problems as we can at their pace.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to improve their problem solving skills for the SAT Math Exam and gain a better grasp as to how to approach these problems when it comes down to taking the real test on their own by PRACTICING!
Other Details
Supply List

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Stevens Institute of Technology
I am offering this SAT Math Prep Course because I understand the frustration of high school students coming from different backgrounds and schools, not having the same level of material taught to come together and take one national exam.
I have been teaching and privately tutoring for years, from elementary school all the way up to college level math and physics. I have privately tutored standardized test prep for exams such as the SSAT, PSAT, and SAT for many years. In doing so, I learned that what makes a significant improvement in scores is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. I received a near perfect score on the SAT Math section when I took it not too long ago (97.5th percentile) and want to share those tools I have with students for the SAT!
With a Mechanical Engineering Degree and experience in teaching mathematics, I have picked up many useful tips and tricks for recognizing patterns in mathematics- be that a probability problem, system of equations, or just in the heart of Algebra, my philosophy is to help students be exposed to the various problems and topics on the SAT Exam. And by doing so, students will better gain intuition and test readiness skills. I have seen a massive improvement in students' scores this way!
