Don't go into the SAT Math test without some solid preparation. My introductory class will give you a great overview of the SAT Math Test and will motivate you to come up with a study plan to go over the various topics on the test. We will cover the following Math topics: number and operations; algebra and functions; geometry and measurement; and data analysis, statistics, and probability. Prior to the class, students will be asked to share what areas of Math they need help reviewing. And their previous scores on the SAT Math test, if they took it before. I will also educate the student about the test: 35% of the test is Algebra, 35% is Advanced Math, 15% is Geometry and Trig, and 15% is Data Analysis and Problem Solving. We will cover the basics of Algebra, Advanced Math, Geometry and Trig, and Problem Solving and Data Analysis. We will then move on to medium level problems and then more difficult SAT Math problems. Also, the SAT will provide the on-line graphing calculator Desmos throughout the test. So we will practice using this great tool so students will be proficient with Desmos during the SAT! Finally, I will also coach the student to be calm by encouraging them to put in the Math practice ahead of time. Also I will encourage them to be rested and relaxed so they can do their best on test day. I will encourage the student to sign up and practice in the free Khan Academy Digital Class. And to consider Math 1 on 1 tutoring which I also offer.
Learning Goals
Students will practice a variety of past SAT Math questions in the areas of Algebra and Functions, Geometry and Measurement, and Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability.
Students will gain insights and confidence about the types of questions on the Math SAT.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from University of Massacusetts at Lowell
I am currently a Math Interventionist Teacher for Catapult Learning at a High School on Oahu. This past June I helped a student to prepare for the SAT Math part of the test by providing him with lots of practice questions and then explaining and discussing the solutions with him. I gained insights into the type of questions on the test and the variety of topics that I would like to share with other students to help them do the best they can. I have a Masters in Math Secondary Education.
