Class experience
Welcome to this sample group Spanish class! In this one-time class, you'll sample my group Spanish classes that meet once or twice per week. This is your opportunity to try a group Spanish class, without committing to meeting continuously quite yet. The theme of this language class is Hobbies. You will learn the following target language in Spanish: -What do you like to do? -I like to... -play videogames -watch movies -read -draw -play sports We'll focus on Mexican Spanish, since that is...
Students will learn 7 different words and phrases in Spanish to discuss their hobbies in short, complete sentences.
I have spoken Spanish for over 15 years. I lived in Mexico for over 6 years. I hold a Bachelor's in the Principles and Methods of Language Education. I have taught a foreign language to children online since 2014.
Homework Offered
Homework is optional and may be assigned after class, or it may not be.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessment is informal. I do not give letter grades, but I do write to each family post-class with a review of what we learned and some specific feedback for each student.Grades Offered
Learners will not need to bring anything to class. There are optional homework activities for them to complete, if they want to. I recommend that students bring a notebook and pencil to class to write down new words.
Please note that I use Nearpod for my lessons. Nearpod is a website that allows teachers to create slide presentations with interactive activities for students. A link will be provided via the Zoom chat box during the live class to access Nearpod. I will also provide the necessary 5 digit code to access the lesson. If students wish, I can also provide them with a link to access the lesson on their own time after class. I may use Kahoot in this class. or I may not. Kahoot is a website where teachers design quiz games for students to test their knowledge and review what they've learned. If I use Kahoot in class, I will provide students with the necessary link and Game PIN to access the Kahoot game. I will also include this information in the virtual classroom, for students who wish to play the Kahoot game at a later time. Please note that I cannot provide Zoom links for students to enter the session. Outschool does not allow this. ***************************** TECHNOLOGY NOTE Children should be able to handle technological functions like accessing the Zoom chat box, turning on or off their microphone on Zoom, clicking a link to open the Nearpod website, navigating to the Nearpod website, and opening a new tab on their internet browser to see the Nearpod website. They should be able to click answers to questions on their screens. It would also be good for them to know how to navigate between Zoom and an external website, since they'll need to do this during class to participate in the Nearpod games. **************************** SKILLS REQUIRED Students need to be able to read to participate in this class.
