Salute the Sun or Meet the Moon: Weekday Yoga Practice for Tweens and Preteens
What's included
5 live meetings
1 hrs 40 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Students subscribed to this ongoing yoga class will cultivate their personal yoga and meditation mindfulness practice. As with any practice, consistency is essential, but you don't need a whole lot of time every day to experience the benefits of yoga! We will begin each 20-minute yoga practice session with a breathing exercise, and then I will guide the yogis through a series of asanas (yoga poses) followed by a brief guided meditation. I will offer modifications and advancements for the poses throughout class. Students are encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts, both before we start breathing together and after the relaxation and meditation at the end of our practice. Yoga is for everybody—no experience is necessary, and everybody is "flexible enough!" Yoga can be practiced literally anywhere; you don't even need a yoga mat. No equipment is required, although I will recommend household objects that students may use for props if they could make an asana more accessible. Students are welcome to join in at any time.
Learning Goals
Students will experience the benefits of a regular yoga and meditation practice. Their internal and external strength and flexibility—as well as their overall wellness—can be expected to build over time.

Please reach out to me if this is your learner's first time practicing yoga and/or if he or she (or you) has any concerns of which you would like me to be aware. I have been trained to teach yoga so that anyone who wishes to participate will reap its benefits, and I offer modifications and advancements for the poses throughout class. Yoga truly is for everyone!
If you have any questions or are concerned about the suitability of a yoga practice for your student, it's best to confirm with a doctor that this style of physical activity is safe.
Supply List
Yogis should have an open area of the floor or ground with enough space to lie down and spread out, and it's wise to have water within reach. Nothing else is required, although blankets; pillows; and a strap, scarf, or long towel may be beneficial, and sometimes we may practice near a wall to encourage a different experience of the poses.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
