What's included
1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This is a unique class where learners will explore what it is like to be surrounded by the wildlife of southern Africa. Miss Meghan will explain the different types of tracks, the information tracks can tell us and why we look for tracks in certain places. Learners will have the opportunity to find out how to locate each species by specific tracking techniques such as looking for footprints. This class will cover the footprint tracks of cat and dog species in southern Africa including lions and hyenas. Learners will discover why each animals’ tracks are different and how to easily identify which animal left that track behind. The class will conclude with a review of the tracks and learners sharing any new interests. Miss Meghan will show information, pictures and videos using powerpoint so asking questions and being involved in the class conversation is highly encouraged! Miss Meghan will use her own experiences as a safari guide to go into further detail or answer any questions the learners have. No materials are needed for this class and parental guidance is not required.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach your learners about wildlife and conservation. I hope they find new interests and a passion for protecting the nature and wildlife we share our world with.
I am currently working towards a master's degree in environmental education. I have a bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife and a focus in fisheries science and conservation. I worked in a Herpetology Lab where I was the manager of research and husbandry of Nebraska native herpetofauna including terrestrial and aquatic turtles, snakes, frogs, toads, salamanders and lizards as well as a few non-native species. I analyzed and surveyed the animals parasites and conducted health checks such as feeding and weighing. I also presented research projects that educated the public about salamander research and conservation. The lab rescued hurt or unwanted reptiles and amphibians which is how I adopted my pet California King Snake! I hope to teach your learners about all the amazing reptiles and amphibians, misconceptions and fun facts about them as well as safety around them.
I also lived in Botswana and South Africa where I trained to be a Safari Guide! I acquired field guiding skills such as animal tracking, animal behavior anticipation, and identifying and preventing poaching. My favorite part was studying Botswana's unique elephant populations and encountering animals such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas. I would love to give learners a unique experience by learning the same things I learned during my time in southern Africa!
I work as a Naturalist for the state's parks and wildlife commission and also as a Fisheries Technician for the University. My responsibilities include preserving, restoring, maintaining, and protecting natural habitats and dedicating land to wildlife populations. I develop programs to educate the public about the historical, cultural, and environmental nature of parks. I am also a Certified Fishing Instructor. I work with youth and their families to provide quality fishing opportunities. I teach skills such as equipment safety and use, casting and knot tying, fish identification and fishing regulations and ethics.
If you want your learner to be immersed in a fun yet WILDLY educational class, you're in the right place! Feel free to send me a message with any comments or questions and I hope to have your learner in a class soon!
